- The double-CD features Roots Manuva, Diplo and The Bug alongside some of digital dub music's pioneers.
This June, Soul Jazz will release a reggae compilation curated by Kevin Martin (aka The Bug) and label owner Stuart Baker, entitled Invasion Of The Mysteron Killer Sounds in 3-D.
The two-disc package combines exclusive tracks from contemporary producers with the kind of re-releases Soul Jazz is known for. Invasion of the Killer Mysteron Sounds is an adulation of dancehall culture, tying the seemingly disparate genres of dubstep, acid, hip-hop and electronica to the digital production styles forged in Jamaica in the '80s by artists like King Tubby, King Jammy, Steely and Clevie, who pioneered the use of drum machines in reggae. Evoking the playful comic book graphics of The Scientist (another father of digital dub), the album comes with a limited-edition graphic novel by Italian designer Paolo Parisi.
