Seth Troxler, Ben UFO and Michael Mayer are a few of the many acts taking over the Danish capital next week.
Conceived in 1998 as a "just-for-fun" party, Distortion has since swelled into an international festival, drawing some of the biggest names in electronic music to Denmark for five days of carnival-style festivities. Between 4pm and 10pm the Distortion Block Party will gather crowds of 20,000-40,000 people to a different district of Copenhagen each day with its free street parties. In the evening the Club Clash moves the party indoors, with each venue in the neighbourhood hosting a series of individual events ranging from jazz, funk, disco and electro, to dubstep, drum & bass, house and techno. After four days, Distortion concludes on a chilled out vibe with two stages of art, reggae and "jumping in the water." Highlights from this year's artist lineup include Seth Troxler, Josh Wink, Mathew Jonson, Matias Aguayo and Ben UFO of Hessle Audio.
But it's not all about partying at Distortion. A plethora of alternative projects add a cultural edge to the hedonism, including debates, workshops and information exchange via its Distortion Institute.
