Space Dimension Controller, Morphosis and Morton Subotnick will play live at the "Future Shock"-themed Polish festival.
The theme for this year's festival is "Future Shock," inspired by Alvin Toffler's famous book on futurism. In the programmers' own words, the event will "explore the world of Science-Fiction as imagined in various realms of film, soundtracks and music." This will happen partly in the form of performances by early electronic pioneers, including Morton Subotnick, a 78-year-old composer who's been credited with bringing rhythm into electronic music, and Chris & Cosey, '80s cold wave pioneers and former members of Throbbing Gristle.
Plenty of contemporary artists will play the festival as well. The two club nights have packed in a techno and dubstep-heavy bill that includes 2562, Morphosis, Kassem Mosse, Addison Groove, Andy Stott, MMM and Dreadnought, Untold's new project with the vocalist Samuel Chase, plus a bit of disco from Space Dimension Controller. All of these artists will play live—Joy Orbison is the lone DJ confirmed so far, with more due to be announced later. Per usual, the festival will have a strong non-musical element as well, with art installations, workshops, panels and film screenings.
