  • This Saturday, Juan Atkins will headline The Future is Now, a two-part event taking place in Detroit and Royal Oak. The night begins at 323East, an art gallery in Royal Oak, with exhibits featuring Brooklyn visual artists AVONE, Ellis G and Kimyon Huggins. The afterparty will happen at Beautiful Machines in downtown Detroit, and will double as a release party for Kimyon's new record, Platform View, on Atkins' classic label Metroplex. As we reported earlier this week, the limited-edition release marks the re-launch of Metroplex, which has not put out a new record in seven years. Both Atkins and Kimyon will take to the decks, and Martin Bonds will play live as Real by Reel. Support comes from local artists T.Linder, Rob Rage and others.
