  • 2012's Field Day will take place on Saturday 2nd June. Due to next year's London Olympics, the one-day festival will move a full two months forward this year from its traditional date at the beginning of August. East London's Victoria Park will remain as its home for this sixth annual gathering. As is standard procedure with Field Day, the initial wave of announced artists comprises a mix of indie and electronic acts. In the former camp, Glasgow's Franz Ferdinand take their place as early contenders for the overall headlining slot. Beirut, Metronomy, Afrocubism, Tortoise and The Vaccines are also set for appearances. Moving into more electronic terrain, Glasgow will come under further representation from Warp's Hudson Mohawke and Rustie; UK house upstarts Julio Bashmore and Maya Jane Coles will DJ; and SBTRKT will don his mask and take to the stage. On a less dance floor-focussed tip, attendees can look forward to performances from Fennesz, Peaking Lights, Com Truise and Gold Panda. The promoters announced as stage hosts thus far include Eat Your Own Ears, Bugged Out!, Bleed and Lanzarote.
