  • Big Chill has announced that they will not undertake a full-scale festival in 2012. Organizers of the nearly two decade old event have decided to take the year off largely due to the Olympics. A statement released today states that Big Chill "looked long and hard late last year at moving the date so it didn't clash with the Olympics but the mix of the festival fans desire to keep the date and an inability to find an alternative date that works" have led to its cancellation. The statement goes on to say that they have every expectation of bringing Big Chill back in 2013, and that there exists the possibility that a smaller-scale event will go on later this year. Presumably, said event would take place at an indoor venue—not the festival's usual Eastnor Castle home, which has seen the event gradually become one of the UK's largest festivals. Past headliners have included Kanye West, The Chemical Brothers, Massive Attack, Lily Allen and countless more.
