Sonar announces artists for Barcelona and Cape Town

- Sonar have announced the initial lineup for their annual festival in Barcelona, along with details for the first Cape Town edition of A Taste of Sonar. More than 30 artists have been confirmed for the central event in Spain, taking place on June 14th, 15th and 16th. As usual, the bill features huge name electronic acts alongside more underground and avant-garde artists. Headliners include Fatboy Slim, Deadmau5, The Roots and Hot Chip. Richie Hawtin and Luciano will both DJ, along Julio Bashmore, Maya Jane Coles and local export John Talabot. Live acts include Squarepusher and Nicolas Jaar, plus Laurent Garnier's LBS and Amon Tobin's ISAM. Label showcases will come from Hyperdub (Kode9, Cooly G, Scratcha DVA) and 100% Silk (Ital, Maria Minerva, LA Vampires, Magic Touch). On March 2nd, Modeselektor will also play A Taste of Sonar, an event previously held at The Roundhouse in London but happening for the first time in Cape Town this year. Taking place as part of Design Indaba, a city-wide, multidisciplinary design festival, the event also features Byetone of Raster Noton and French artist Brodinski, plus a cast of South African artists. As was announced at the end of last year, Sonar will also be hosting events in Tokyo and Sao Paulo. Additions have been made to those lineups as well: Jeff Mills, Squarepusher and Seth Troxler are among the new confirmations for Brazil, while Rustie and Mount Kimbie have been announced for Japan.
