The French producer's organic, jazzy, free-form LP will come out in April on Karat.
Sylvain Garcia's music has always been a little off-kilter; as he told Little White Earbuds in 2009, "For me, dance music has to be... weird?" Based in the southern city of Perpignan, he places special importance on sounding both organic and eclectic, and is among that rare breed of producers that prefer playing live over DJing. Past productions on Circus Company and other labels have shown a curveball approach to house music, but Freewheel is a more fully free-form affair, with varied tempos and time signatures, occasional IDM excursions and frequent nods to Garcia's jazz influences. It will be his first release on Karat Records, a Parisian label that's previously released artists like Portable, Ark and Mr Oizo.
