Next up in the series: Roman Flügel VS John Talabot for The Garden Party in Leeds, and Kerri Chandler VS Chez Damier at BeCool during Sonar.
If you missed the announcement concerning our RA VS kick-off then it's a pretty simple concept to wrap your head around: bring together DJs for unique back-to-back performances. The pairings will be based on mutual respect, a musical common ground or perhaps simply a thirst for experimentation. The first RA VS party at eleven in Tokyo (April 28th) will see Detroit selectors Mike Huckaby and Patrice Scott take a tandem dive into the depths of deep house and techno.
Looking ahead to Sunday 3rd June and we'll once again hook-up with Technique and Asylum for the Garden Party, taking place at the indoor/outdoor Faversham in Leeds. The party will see veteran Frankfurt genre-bender Roman Flügel linking up with Hivern Discs's John Talabot, the man behind the recently released fin, which even now feels like an early contender for the album of the year. Flügel produced his own standout full-length last year with Fatty Folders, which explored a wealth of textures and influences within a loose house music framework—much like fin. Both will no doubt bring this approach to the Garden Party on June 3rd, where a colourful and idiosyncratic take on modern club music should be expected from their back-to-back session.
Moving on to our off-Sonar date, and we're more than a bit excited to present an all-night set from two bona fide house music legends: Kerri Chandler and Chez Damier. They may have cut their teeth in New York and Chicago respectively, but the timeless approach they bring to their DJ performances will serve as the fertile common ground between the two. Deep, soulful and true to the roots, it's clear that this one will be special.
Tickets for The Garden Party and RA VS - Kerri Chandler & Chez Damier are available to purchase through RA Tickets.
