- Rod Modell and Stephen Hitchell's next LP is all about "the sacred realm of silence."
Rod Modell and Stephen Hitchell will release a new album next month as DeepChord presents: Echospace.
The LP is a soundtrack to Silent World, an independent film produced by Rod Modell that will come out on DVD sometime after the album. As the title suggests, its heavily focused on the sound of silence, which Hitchell and Modell find essential on a spiritual level, and use here as the foundation for their music; atmospheric impressions captured with "hydrophones, piezo-electric transducers, wind harps, and binaural dummy-head microphones" are used as source material for the record. According to a press release, these same recordings were the "sonic structure" of Liumin, their 2010 double-disc package on Modern Love, which explains the inclusion of the "BCN Dub (Original Mix)."
Silent World will be available as a triple 12-inch pack on colored vinyl, plus a CD with a single 71-minute track. It's due out next month on echospace [detroit].
