- The London group will release their second album in August.
LV will release a new full-length, Sebenza, on August 27th.
Last year's Routes on Keysound saw LV exploring the urban landscape of London through UK funky-inspired beats and the vocals of Joshua Idehen. Sebenza, released on the group's original home of Hyperdub, however, follows in the spirit of the recently-released Get A Grip EP and 2010's "Boomslang." Those Hyperdub-released packages showed the Londoners gleaning inspiration from South African kwaito house and the vibrant Johannesburg music scene, the result of two trips down to South Africa in the past two years.
Like last year's "Boomslang," every track on Sebenza features a South African MC, including not only now-frequent collaborator Okmalumkoolkat but also Spoek Mathambo and duo Ruffest. A press release describes the album as "South Africa meets South London" due to its hybridizing of UK funky and kwaito house. It will consist of all previously unreleased tracks barring "Sebenza" and "Zulu Compura," which appeared on the Get A Grip EP. The vinyl version will contain an extra track, "Diamonds," which was previously a digital-only bonus track on that EP.
