  • Carmelo Bianchetti, widely known as DJ HMC or Late Nite Tuff Guy, will play all night at The Civic Underground in Sydney this month. Bianchetti was a driving force in the Australian techno scene back in the early '90s, pioneering the sound in Adelaide with his productions on Juice Records. "Phreakin," released in 1995, gained international recognition and led to a string of releases on local and overseas labels like DanceNet, Primary Recordings and Unrefined Recordings. After a lengthy dormant period, Bianchetti reemerged under his Late Nite Tuff Guy alias, becoming a prolific disco editor with his consistently popular 12-inches on Dessert Island Discs and prolific output on SoundCloud. Along with his recent disco work, he has continued to release techno under the DJ HMC name. Bianchetti's first Sydney show in years will be a part of Picnic's One Night Stand party series, the concept of which involves one Australian DJ playing all night with no support acts. The 'roid rave' themed party will kick off at 10:00 PM at The Civic Underground and tickets can be purchased here on RA.
