Entitled Movement, the experimental artist's first full-length is due out in November.
Herndon's music strikes a balance between techno and the avant-garde—a combination that's a direct result of her personal history. The Tennessee native moved to Berlin as a teenager and spent a lot of time listening to techno in clubs. These experiences informed her sensibility when she returned to the States and pursued a master's degree in electronic music at Mills College, where she was named best composer in 2011. Voice processing has always been particularly interesting to her, as you can tell from the trailer video below.
Until now, Herndon's only release has been a cassette called Car on the label Third Sex. She'll make her live debut in New York next month with Jacaszek, followed by an appearance at Poland's Unsound festival in October.
