- Derrick Carter and Luke Solomon's label has tapped the Horse Meat Disco DJ for its next compilation.
Severino is at the helm of Classic's latest Through the Eyes of compilation, due out this November.
Founded by Derrick Carter and Luke Solomon in 1995, Classic famously started at catalog number 100 and counted down with each release, vowing to call it quits once they hit zero. After meeting that milestone in 2005, though, the label backpedaled somewhat and began a second life by turning to mixes, albums and digital releases.
The Through the Eyes of series, launched late last year with Matt Tolfrey, prompts DJs to "use anything from the catalogue, go deep, the obvious is off limits, remix what you want, have fun," as the press release for the second installment puts it. Severino, the Londoner by way of Italy best known as part of Horse Meat Disco, has clearly taken these instructions to heart, sprinkling a few new remixes of Classic tracks from his Hyena Stomp project in with deep cuts from the label. The unmixed digital version also comes with an exclusive Severino remix of Brett Johnson's "Slow Baby Down" not included in the mixed release.
