  • Michael Mayer will make his way to Australia to play two gigs from late November. Mayer, who contributed this week's RA Podcast, returned earlier this month with his second full-length, the warmly received Mantasy, nearly a decade after his debut album. That extensive gap in studio activity has been filled with his continuing duties as co-owner of celebrated Cologne imprint Kompakt as well as a consistently packed touring schedule. Despite his praised studio work, Mayer's reputation has fundamentally been built upon his abilities as a DJ, particularly thanks to career highlights like 2002's iconic mix CD Immer, and the upcoming Australian shows will take full advantage of his talent. Future Classic will present both events, at which Mayer will be performing without support acts, from 10:00 PM until 6:00 AM. The Melbourne gig takes place at Prince Bandroom on November 30th, and his Sydney appearance will happen the following night at the Oxford Art Factory. Tickets to both the Melbourne and Sydney shows are available here on RA.
