  • Cosmin TRG will bring his garage-tinted techno to the US for a trio of DJ gigs later this month. The three-night weekender comes a couple months after the release of Gordian, the second LP from Cosmin TRG (real name Cosmin Nicolae) for 50 Weapons, which was praised as a "delightful listen" by RA reviewer Holly Dicker. First up, on Thursday, June 27th, he'll play the Make It New night at Middlesex Lounge in Boston for his local debut. Cosmin TRG will then hit Pittsburgh the following night for the first time, though the occasion may be a bittersweet one for locals, as he's due to headline the Closing Party for 6119. Pittsburgh's VIA collective (who curate the city's annual VIA Festival) opened the multi-purpose space last June, and after playing host to countless events over the past twelve months—and globe-trotting artists like Kassem Mosse, Kode9, Pearson Sound and Ital—the venue is now slated for demolition and redevelopment, according to a press release. This final bash will be thrown by VIA and fellow Pittsburgh crew Detour. Then on Saturday the 29th, Cosmin TRG's brief US trek winds down with a return to New York, this time for a 50 Weapons label showcase also featuring the UK's Benjamin Damage. Presented by ReSolute, the party will take place at Output in Brooklyn with support from resident Connie, and tickets are available here on RA. Ahead of the mini-tour, you can read this recent RA interview for a closer look into the world of Cosmin TRG.
