Typhoon cancels last day of Labyrinth

"We are sorry everyone, but because of the typhoon, we have to cancel the final day of Labyrinth," festival organizers Mindgames wrote on their Twitter account. "Nature has spoken." A series of further tweets in Japanese urged attendees to evacuate the festival site at Naeba Greenland in Niigata Prefecture north of Tokyo, as major roads would be closing and flooding and landslides posed a major risk. According to BBC News, the storm has forced the evacuation of "at least 400,000 residents from four prefectures"—Kyoto, Shiga, Hyogo and Mie, all to the southwest of the festival site—as Japan soaked in "an unprecedented amount of rainfall." The final day of the festival, widely considered one of the best in the world for techno, was set to feature Labyrinth resident Hiyoshi, Berlin-based American Eric Cloutier, festival favorites Voices from the Lake and the closing set from Svreca.
