  • LA DJ and Droid Behavior boss Drumcell will hit Chicago next Friday to headline Oktave's fourth anniversary event at Primary. Oktave has become synonymous with techno in the Windy City (they've also thrown plenty of parties in NYC). In 2013 alone, the crew has helped bring to town international scene stalwarts like Adam X, Luke Slater and Slam—all artists who previously hadn't appeared locally in many years. Next Friday's anniversary is another event presented with Prosthetic Pressings, and it'll have a repeat guest atop the bill: Drumcell, one of the West Coast's most well known techno purveyors, whose debut LP Sleep Complex was released on CLR a few weeks back. Also on hand will be Detroit's Blank Code heads Project 313, and Oktave resident Jeff Derringer. Looking ahead, Oktave has already announced its next show: a 20 Years of Downwards night at Smart Bar on Saturday, November 23rd with local fixture Karl Meier (AKA one half of the duo Talker, who appear on the new Downwards compilation) and label head Regis.
