  • Om Unit will embark on a tour of North America beginning on November 26th. The UK's Jim Coles—who also produced hip-hop for years as 2tall—has found considerable success with his Om Unit alias, combining dubstep, drum & bass, jungle and other genres into a coherent whole. He's also tried that kind of hybrid science elsewhere, notably the Philip D Kick series (footwork edits of jungle tunes) and his work with Machinedrum as Dream Continuum. He just released his debut Om Unit album, Threads, which we said showed off his "rhythmic expertise and uncanny sound design" in a review. He'll celebrate it with another trip across the pond, the last of several in 2013. Coles' itinerary starts off in Canada, with a date in Whistler on November 26th. From there he weaves through Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver, crossing over the border into Portland on the 30th. After a few days' break his schedule resumes in earnest, taking him to Baltimore on December 3rd and then Boston, New York (where he plays alongside sometimes-collaborator Machinedrum), Austin and Orlando, before wrapping up in Denver on the 10th. For a taste of his recent sounds, check out clips of Threads here and here.
