- The duo will release 7 Days Of Funk in December.
Dam-Funk and Snoop Dogg have collaborated on an album called 7 Days Of Funk, due out through Stones Throw on December 10th.
While the two might seem like an unlikely pairing at first, once you dig deeper it's not all that strange. The newly rechristened Snoopzilla (formerly Snoop Lion, named for his recent reggae work, and Snoop Dogg before that) has always had a taste for the classic-leaning funk that the LA producer trades in. Their working relationship started when Snoop asked Dam to perform him at SXSW in 2011, and the artists reportedly bonded on their love for the vintage stuff—the name Snoopzilla being a reference to Bootsy Collins.
7 Days Of Funk looks to be a suitably retro affair, with Snoop half-rapping and half-singing, sometimes with the help of autotune. (See the rapper's "Sensual Seduction" for a spiritual precursor.) The LP will also feature guest spots from rapper Kuruput as well as Steve Arrington, who recently collaborated with Dam-Funk on an album of his own.
