- The Brooklyn label will launch with an EP called Passageway.
Aurora Halal will inaugurate her new Mutual Dreaming label with a solo EP called Passageway, due out March 5th.
The label is an extension of the Mutual Dreaming parties Halal hosts in Brooklyn. She's been running those events since 2010, inviting the likes of Traxx, Andrés, Veronica Vasicka and Galcher Lustwerk to perform. "I'm not launching a label as this big statement, it’s mostly that I want to release my music properly," she said in a recent interview with Juno Plus. "I think it’s important to put things out and do it your way, because it’s the final step of the artistic process," she adds. "It’s really important to take a step in the open."
Passageway is Halal's debut solo EP, though she's released music before as one half of Innergaze. One of the tracks that will appear on the record, "Hazy G," is an alternate version of the cut that featured on the recently minted Bossa Nova Civic Club label. The EP features a remix from cult Detroit producer Terrence Dixon. You can listen to sample clips via the SoundCloud player below:
