  • MikeQ will touch down in Portland for a gig next Wednesday. Michael Cox is one of the youngest stars of the East Coast ballroom scene, known for his occasionally hard-edged take on the distinctive sound and bringing hip-hop and Jersey club influences into the mix as well. Recently profiled for a feature on this very site, his star is on the rise, and he's also currently on the verge of starting his new Qween Beat label after debuting on Fade To Mind a few years ago. His Portland show will take place at Holocene as part of the Wednesday night PDneXt series, an event which focuses on bass music of all stripes, and has previously featured Egyptrixx, Objekt and DJ Rashad, among many others. Ghost Feet member Ghost Dub will co-headline, and PDneXt residents Graintable, Danny Corn and Plumblyne will all provide opening support. To get an idea of what he might play, check out a 2013 mix from Cox for Boiler Room below.
