Rebolledo has compiled Momento Drive, a new mix CD out through Kompakt on May 5th.
You might know Rebolledo from his solo work—like his 2011 LP Super Vato on Cómeme—or his music with Superpitcher as the Pachanga Boys, who were responsible for 2012's dance floor mega-hit "Time." Momento Drive is his first significant solo work since Vato three years ago, and it comes packed with a new original plus a new remix of the Red Axes, along with a Pachanga Boys track and their own rework of Slove. It also features tracks from Barnt, Justus Köhncke, Wolfgang Voigt and plenty of others. The title references the dual meaning of "momento" in Spanish, referring both to a moment in time as well as momentum.
"I truly enjoy the feeling of constant motion," Rebolledo is quoted on the press release, adding "music can take you to places without you even leaving the room. The resulting effect on the body that has nothing to do with BPM amounts or high volume, but all with inertia and power. I like to call that effect drive." The LP cover is a recreation of the album cover for Wally On The Road by Filipino rock star Wally Gonzales, whose own "Wally's Blues" opens the mix (in edited form).
