  • Dutch techno producer Albert van Abbe is preparing to launch a new vinyl-only imprint called VANABBE. To date, van Abbe's output has come primarily via his own No Comment imprint. Eight of his solo records have been released through No Comment since its launch a little over three years ago, and most came backed by remixes from international producers like Gerald Donald (who did two as Heinrich Mueller and Rudolf Klorzeiger, and also one original track as Der Zyklus), Convextion and Abdulla Rashim. Last year he also turned in an EP for Belgium's Curle Recordings. VANABBE looks to be an entirely solo endeavor: as the artist himself puts it, "It was time to start something fresh with the focus being just myself and no remix artists involved. I had some trademark problems with an American band as well about the label name No Comment, so this feels like the right moment to start this new project." The label's first release, due out near the end of the month, is simply titled VANABBE01. It has four tracks sequentially named from "ASTROTURF01" to "ASTROTURF04" and it'll come in a limited run of 200 copies. You can try out the first track with the video below. On the touring front, van Abbe will travel to Russia this weekend to DJ at Subspace events in Moscow and St. Petersburg (Berlin-based artist Refracted is a guest at each of those, too), and in July he'll premiere his new live set at Berghain in Berlin.
