Decline And Fall, out in June, is the band's first new material in over a decade.
Godflesh, mainly a collaboration between Broadrick and GC Green, first appeared on the busy Birmingham metal scene when Broadrick left Napalm Death in 1987 (having just released their foundational grindcore masterpiece Scum). The new project explored slower tempos and incorporated electronic elements, aligning itself with the nascent industrial movement. Over the course of a decade Godflesh established itself as a premiere experimental metal band (with classic LPs like Streetcleaner and Pure). They broke up in 2002, however, and Broadrick struck out on his own with the shoegaze-influenced Jesu. Though Godlfash have since reunited for concerts, they haven't put out any new music until now.
Decline And Fall is their first new original material since 2001's Hymns album. The EP's four tracks blend together "industrial, metal, hip-hop, post-punk and dub' according to the press release, and you can stream opening track "Ringer" below. It'll come through Broadrick's own Avalanche imprint, and it precedes a new album, A World Lit Only By Fire, which is promised for later this year.
