Max D and Anthony Naples to play LA pop-up club TOP40

- Gene's Liquor, a West Coast collective currently involved with the LA Club Resource, Proibito and Dance Mania labels, will present Maxmillion Dunbar, Anthony Naples and James Ferraro at the temporary TOP40 club this Saturday. Gene's Liquor, whose website currently hocks new releases from Delroy Edwards' LA Club Resource imprint as well as New Orleans gangster rap label Mobo, has curated the night in collaboration with the roving club. The traveling guest will be Future Times and RVNG man Maxmillion Dunbar, who emphasized his stylistic range on his recent Collage 4 Giz mix for Berceuse Heroique. Proibito boss and recent LA transplant Anthony Naples will join him on the bill. James Ferraro, the hypnagogic pop figure who recently created installations for MoMA's PS1, has also been tapped for support. TOP40 is a pop-up club conceived by LA artist Meghan Edwards. After a month-long program of curated events in spring of 2014 (which included performances from Mykki Blanco, Delroy Edwards and more), it's returned for a second run stretching into mid-August. "In the lineage of social sculpture," the official TOP40 website states, "TOP40’s intention is to construct a frame around what’s happening now, celebrating current cultural influence by starting a conversation."
