  • Manchester International Festival has commissioned Jamie xx to score a piece of contemporary ballet, set to premiere in July 2015. As reported by FACT, the UK beatmaker has been brought on board a project that includes Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson on visuals, British visionary Wayne McGregor on choreography and dancers from the Paris Opera Ballet. The piece, called Tree Of Codes, is a performance based on Jonathan Safran Foer’s artwork of the same name, in which Foer took a pair of scissors to Bruno Schulz’s Street Of Crocodiles to create a new narrative. Tree Of Codes will be one of several productions at the fifth edition of the biennial festival, which runs from July 2nd through 19th. The full lineup will be revealed in February.
