Early 2015 will also see Arjunamusic re-release the trio's self-titled LP.
Buchla synth aficionado Max Loderbauer first joined up with leading jazz clarinetist Claudio Puntin and prolific percussionist (and Arjuna label head) Samuel Rohrer to release the ambiq LP back in February. Filled with spacey, abstract jazz explorations, that album will be re-released in February 2015 on CD, vinyl and digital formats, and due to follow a month later is a record featuring a remix each from Ricardo Villalobos and Tobias Freund.
The appearance of those two particular artists shouldn't be too surprising, as Loderbauer has done plenty of collaborating with each. His and Villalobos' joint output includes the widely praised 2011 album Re:ECM, while his work with Freund is highlighted by their nsi. project. (Freund's label Non Standard Productions also handled the release of Loderbauer's debut album, Transparenz, in July of last year.) The reworks—Freund's is credited to his usual alias, Tobias.—are described together as "an alternative perspective" on "dance floor techno," and they'll see release on vinyl and digital formats.
If you haven't heard it yet, ambiq can be streamed in full over on BandCamp.
