- The bespoke modular synth company's LEM4 Snoopy, LEM3 Spider and 252e Polyphonic Rhythm Generator are due out within the next few months.
Buchla has some new products on the way this year.
The first is a new sequencer module for the company's flagship 200e systems. It's called the 252e Polyphonic Rhythm Generator, and it's characterized by a colorful, circular display. This shows up to 11 concentric rings representing complex patterns generated by three onboard clocks. The interaction of the rings can create impressively complex rhythmic patterns, and the company (along with post-NAMM Show press) has emphasized its depth as a sequencer. The LEM3 Spider is a standalone desktop implementation of the Polyphonic Rhythm Generator. The module takes up about two-thirds of the casing, with CV-to-MIDI conversion and Buchla-style routing filling out the rest.
The LEM4 Snoopy is a standalone synth with the same compact desktop profile as the Spider. It's built around Buchla's Complex Waveform Oscillator, with lots of other routing and modulation options in the company's signature style. CV, MIDI and USB I/O make it compatible with other synths, sequencers or DAWs. You can pair it with a LEM218 keyboard, Buchla's iconic metal keyboard from its Music Easel systems.
Buchla will release the 252e Polyphonic Synthesizer, the LEM3 Spider and the LEM4 Snoopy within the next few months for estimated retail prices of $2,499, $2,999 and $2,499, respectively.
