- A 12-inch featuring reworks of the Afrobeat drummer is due out this April.
Tony Allen's Film Of Life Remixes EP will be released by Jazz Village and Harmonia Mundi on April 7th.
Last year, the Nigerian musician (who Brian Eno described as "perhaps the greatest drummer who has ever lived") released the Film Of Life LP, the latest entry in a career which spans back to his genre-defining work with Fela Kuti as Africa '70. For the remix record, Ricardo Villalobos and Max Loderbauer present their take on "African Man." The pair has reworked African music in the past, mixing Tshetsha Boys as part of Honest Jon's Shangaan Electro set. Rising Ghostly affiliate Fort Romeau contributes a mix of "Go Back" for the flipside.
