The new album, out in May, is meant as a hat-tip to the Berlin School of electronic music.
Full title Recollected Ambient Works Vol. 1: Bored Of Excitement, the album is presumably the first in a new series of ambient records from the veteran producer. It's a more introspective take than we're used to from an artist most often associated with an abrasive and irreverent take on IDM and breakcore.
Describing the record's seven tracks as "truly pastoral, piano-based compositions shrugging off any trace of his glitch signature," the label says that the Miguel Depedro "tips his hat to the Berlin School [of electronic music]," AKA the 1970s wave of musicians that included Manuel Gottsching and Tangerine Dream, whose founder and pivotal figure Edgar Froese recently passed away. Like the majority of his output, Bored Of Excitement will come out on Depedro's own Tigerbeat6.
