  • A new series called Groundwerk will launch in Vancouver on April 22nd. Inspired by Calgary's Habitat Studio Social, Groundwerk will meet every fourth Wednesday at The Beaumont Studios in False Creek. A collaboration between Some Kind Of Music Blog, Vancouver Producers Forum's Adam Szabo and local DJ Joel West, it's meant as "a social space for people across the electronic music community to learn, connect and advance together," according to a press release. Geared towards producers, artists, labels and promoters, organizers hope that Groundwerk will become a new hub for the local electronic music scene. Taking place from 8 PM through 11 PM with free admission, the sessions will primarily feature listening sessions and feedback for musical submissions, but there will also be keynote talks, workshops and networking opportunities.
