  • Volcov has released ASE-1, a limited cassette mixtape kicking off a new label called Altered Soul Experiment. The new label "aims to use mixtapes as the medium to bring back a personal touch and inspiration from the music industry's early years," according to a press release. In doing so, Altered Soul Experiment will highlight selectors who have spent "countless hours browsing through record stores and trade markets." Italian producer Volcov, known for his longrunning Archive and Neroli imprints, dug into his collection of '80s electronic funk for his cassette, which is limited to 150 copies. Cuts like The Controllers' "Stay" and Cargo feat. David Collins' "Holding On For Love" feature on the consciously old-school affair. The new label will drop ten tapes before releasing their first 12-inch. UK digger Red Greg has been tapped for the second edition, out in mid-September. Check out samples from ASE-1 below.
