  • ByeBuy is jumping into the world of DJ and production gear. The German startup, dubbed "the Netflix for ecommerce" by the acceleration fund Seedcamp, rents out new gadgets on a monthly, pay-as-you-go basis. The idea is that consumers can try new tech tools—like cameras, smartphones, wearables and even drones—before they plunk down for them, or those who can't afford something outright can rent it out for as long as they need it. The service is now beginning to make deeper inroads into gear that will be of interest to electronic music producers and DJs. Though you'll already find Pioneer CDJs and turntables, Native Instruments controllers and Adam Audio monitors on the site, the company is updating their stocklist to include synths from Moog, Elektron and Dave Smith Instruments, along with classic Technics SL-1210 turntables and Roland's TR-8 drum machine. The company says you can also request gear you'd like to rent, and ByeBuy will quote you a monthly price. They've just released the video embedded below, which fleshes out the concept a bit.
