Leaving Records will host a three week residency at LA nightclub Los Globos, beginning tonight.
Matthew David McQueen aka Matthewdavid and Jesselissa Moretti started Leaving in 2009, issuing scores of cassettes in between benchmark releases like Julia Holter's Tragedy. The label has gone on to form a dialogue with New Age music as well as the LA beat scene, anchored by Flying Lotus's Brainfeeder label, which has issued a couple of McQueen's full-lengths.
The residency features LA-based Leaving artists solo and in various novel formations. Rising beatsmith Mndsgn headlines tonight's show. He's joined by 5 Chuckles, the pairing of cosmic-minded producer Ras G and an MC called The Koreatown Oddity. Next week's show features label co-founder Matthewdavid, as well as Sana Shenai, a new duo featuring Dntel, who dropped his Human Voice full-length on the label last year. White Rainbow and Lucky Dragons round out that bill. The trio of dates wraps up on the 29th, where Dakim, Ahnnu and modular explorer M. Geddes Gengras are set to perform.
