  • Keep Sydney Open will stage an anti-lockouts protest in Belmore Park this Sunday, February 21st. The rapid mobilisation follows a week of sharply increased activity and discussion surrounding Sydney's controversial lockout laws. Beginning at 12:30 PM in the park adjacent to Central Station, the rally will include speeches from Dave Faulkner of Hoodoo Gurus, Isabella Manfredi from The Preatures and Keep Sydney Open spokesman Tyson Koh. Local bands Art Vs Science and Royal Headache will also perform. Soon after 1 PM, things move onto the streets. A "mock funeral" will be held outside the soon-to-close Bar Century in the CBD for "all the closed venues, small businesses and jobs lost since the lockouts." A Facebook event page has been set up for the rally, and an online petition urging for the repeal of Sydney's lockout laws currently sits at around 45,000 signatures.
