Lena Willikens, Smith N Hack, FunkinEven and Gilb'R will also perform at the Paris festival in May.
Held in Parc De La Villette in Paris's 19th arrondissement, Villette Sonique incorporates a mix of free outdoor events and ticketed shows taking place at surrounding venues. This year, the action will kick off on Friday, May 27th with a Salon Des Amateurs night featuring residents Lena Willikens, Tolouse Low Trax and Vladimir Ikovic. (For more on the Düsseldorf club, read Aaron Coultate's 2015 feature).
The following day, Powell, Container, Eric Copeland and Helena Hauff will spread themselves across the outdoor stages in the afternoon, before Japanese quartet Boredoms, Portishead member Geoff Barrow's band BEAK> and Awesome Tapes From Africa affiliate Ata Kak perform inside Grand Halle De La Villette at night.
Villette Sonique will also team up with Red Bull Music Academy to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Versatile Records, presenting two events. The first one, at Cabaret Sauvage on Saturday, May 28th, will feature live performances from recent Machine Love subject Etienne Jaumet, Acid Arab and Jonathan Fitoussi, plus sets from Smith N Hack, FunkinEven, Jan Schulte and Versatile founder Gilb'R, who will play back-to-back with Amsterdam DJ Young Marco. The celebration will continue outdoors the next day, with Domenique Dumont, Mark Ernestus, Cray 76, The Maghreban and Zombie Zombie all confirmed.
Other highlights include Pachanga Boys, Suuns and LA saxophonist Kamasi Washington, who will close the festival on June 1st with a live performance at Philharmonie De Paris. More names will be announced over the coming weeks.
