  • British performer DJ Derek, 73, is believed to be dead. As reported in The Guardian, local police have come across human remains in a woodland area outside Bristol that they believe belong to the former DJ, real name Derek Serpell-Morris. He has been missing since July 2015, and was allegedly last sighted in December at London's Waterloo station. "As soon as I heard the news last night I was convinced it was him," Serpell-Morris's great niece Jennifer Griffiths told The Guardian. "I have spoken to the rest of the family and we all feel the same way." The cause of death is as yet unknown. DJ Derek was affectionately known as "Britain's oldest DJ." He started playing records in his mid-'30s and was a lover of rocksteady, reggae, ska, dancehall and soul, before hanging up his headphones in 2013. He toured all over the UK until he retired, playing venues like Motion Skate Park in Bristol, London's Brixton Jamm and Distrikt in Leeds. He also once appeared in the video for Dizzee Rascal's "Dirtee Disco."
