  • Movement Detroit has made the second lineup announcement for its 2016 event, set to go down at Hart Plaza over Memorial Day weekend. The new acts join a first wave announcement that included electronic pioneers Kraftwerk as well as Juan Atkins' Borderlands collaboration with Moritz Von Oswald. Following last year's appearance by Snoop Dog, the RZA has been added on, as has New Orleans bounce rapper Big Freedia. Despite the stylistic diversions, techno is well-represented on the bill with Len Faki, Claude Young and Bjarki, whose Trip label boss Nina Kraviz is also scheduled for a live set. The Detroit contingent steps up in this second round with JTC and D'Marc Cantu's 2AM/FM, Ectomorph, FIT Siegel, Gay Marvine and Wild Oats head Kyle Hall billed. A number of Detroit-raised artists who have made an impact elsewhere are also heading back to their roots. They include Carlos Souffront, Patrick Russell, Derek Plaslaiko and Mike Servito from the No Way Back crew. (The latter two are playing back-to-back.) Matthew Dear, who came to prominence in neighboring Ann Arbor, will also head back to Michigan for Movement. Elsewhere, the German duo Modeselektor will throw down a live set, modern funk crusader Dâm-Funk and NYC legend Kenny Dope spin records and Tiga, fresh off the release of his latest album, No Fantasy Required performs. The traditional riverside ghettotech party appears to be intact as well, with DJ Funk and DJ Godfather among the new names added. Check out full lineup information in the event listing below.
