- The Spectrum Spools boss has two cassettes on the way.
John Elliott has announced two new releases under his Imaginary Softwoods moniker.
Annual Flowers In Color is set to be Elliott's first solo full-length release since 2011's The Path Of Spectrolite. It's a double cassette collection of unreleased material and demos from 2011 through 2015, which Elliott calls "a scrapbook documenting some of the fruitful experiments happening in private over the years." It's due for release on April 1st on the Imaginary Softwoods Bandcamp. The cassette version contains material not available on the digital version, and also inaugurates a new label called Mineral Disk.
Gold Fiction Loop Garden, meanwhile, collects short loops recorded from 2014 through 2015 "using analog synthesizers, Mellotron and multiple arrays of configured fx processes." The digital version is available to purchase now, while a limited cassette will be available on April 1st.
Elliott is known as the mind behind Spectrum Spools, an Editions Mego sublabel that's given us music from the likes of Container, Donato Dozzy and Bee Mask. He was in the band Emeralds.
