  • Brainfeeder will take over a couple of iconic California venues on September 16th and 17th. Flying Lotus's label emerged from the LA beat scene, focused around the weekly Low End Theory night, to make a definitive impact on the mainstream. Most recently, Brainfeeder's resident bass wizard, Thundercat, landed a Grammy for his work on Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly. Both FlyLo and Thundercat will be on-hand for the label's takeover of the Fox Theater in Oakland on September 16th. The label has also managed to land an appearance from George Clinton's legendary Parliament Funkadelic for that show, with The Gaslamp Killer and Seattle experimental hip-hop unit Shabazz Palaces rounding out the bill. The next night, Brainfeeder heads south to Hollywood Bowl, a well-established LA outdoor venue that typically hosts acts like Fleetwood Mac and Neil Young. The lineup for the 17th is yet to be announced. WOKE, a supergroup comprising Flying Lotus, Thundercat and Shabazz recently put out a track featuring George Clinton. Listen to that one below.
