  • The third annual DAT Music Conference will take place in Missoula, Montana from Friday through Sunday, July 27th through 29th. DAT (short for Digital & Analog Technologies) brings a mix of performances, visual art installations and workshops to venues across Missoula. The city, in the western part of the state, is home to the University Of Montana's flagship campus, and known for its arts and culture scene, outdoor recreation and "decidedly progressive vibe," as the organizers put it. The festival's wide-ranging electronic music programming has featured out-of-town guests like John Tejada, Natasha Kmeto, Lusine, Mike Huckaby and The Black Madonna in the past. This year, Atlanta IDM purveyor Richard Devine, BC house veteran Frivolous and Seattle's Raica, co-founder of the experimental label Further Records, are on the lineup, as are Edmonton's Clinker and LA stalwarts GB (Gifted & Blessed)—an RA Sessions guest earlier this year—and 6BLOCC. Along with Raica, there's a strong Pacific Northwest contingent that includes 214, Jerry Abstract, wndfrm and Sappho. Chicago's Jarvi is also confirmed, and once again a bevy of local talent will be on hand, like Hoodrich, Wildcard, Lady Science and The Dutchess.
