- It's the Italian sound artist's second effort for the label, and it's out next week.
Valerio Tricoli is back on PAN with a new record called Clonic Earth.
The Italian-born, Germany-based artist first appeared on the experimental label with Miseri Lares, a double album that he called his "magnum opus." Tricoli is a sound artist who makes music concrète out of live sampling, spoken word and live editing of reel-to-reel tape, and performs live as well as contributing to installations and art pieces.
PAN says that Clonic Earth was made in the direct aftermath of Miseri Lares, with Tricoli himself adding that it was "as if all the debris left inside my loudspeakers have been ignited to expand into the ether, to find a justification at the principle of Chaos, or Cosmos alike." The second-century AD Chaldean Oracles and the works of Philip K. Dick provide the inspiration for this one (as well as some spoken word text), with fire as the theme.
