  • Black Dice will put out their next EP, Big Deal, on L.I.E.S.. It's been a long, strange journey for the group, comprising Aaron Warren and brothers Björn and Eric Copeland. Originally conceived as a confrontational, often violent hardcore band in late-'90s Providence, Rhode Island, the group settled into a psychedelic, experimental groove with a string of albums for DFA, kicking off their work for that label with 2002's seminal Beaches & Canyons. As of late, Eric Copeland's worked closely with L.I.E.S.— since 2014 he's released a solo record per year on fellow hardcore veteran Ron Morelli's imprint. The press release for the new one points to this relationship, saying "somehow it would only make sense for Dice and L.I.E.S. to link up and after a long friendship we see it come to fruition… You wanted to shred? Well this shreds. Is it a snapshot of the past? A possible nod of things to come? A moment frozen in time? We leave it for you to decide." Listen to the title track below.
