  • The next release on Dark Entries comes from UK duo Nagamatzu. Andrew Lagowski and Stephen Jarvis are no strangers to the San Francisco-based label, which already reissued their first two albums, 1983's Shatter Days and 1986's Sacred Islands Of The Mad. Dark Entries' latest effort, Above This Noise, pulls together tracks that were recorded between Sacred Islands and the band's final LP, 1991's Igniting The Corpse. The nine songs here are a mixture of previously unreleased material and tunes that only appeared on compilations. Nagamatzu would make music by taking foundations from Lagowski and layering instruments and samples over top, usually recording it all in one take. The label compares the music to Clock DVA and early New Order, with "stuttering bass, guitar bursts and funeral keyboards draped over a dragging drum machine beat." Listen to clips of the whole album.
