  • The organizers of LA's Berserktown have announced a couple events to complement next weekend's festival. Berserktown, now in its third year, presents an interesting amalgamation of left-leaning electronic producers, experimental artists and punk bands. Powell, Inga Copeland and Rezzett are among those booked for the festival proper, but there are a couple of auxiliary shows for those coming into town as well. Starting out on Wednesday August 10th at The Regent, Genesis P-Orridge's band, Psychic TV, will play a live score for Derek Jarman's In the Shadow Of The Sun. On Friday the 12th, the night when Berserktown has booked a loosely dance-oriented lineup to play the Teragram Ballroom, VSSL and Mount Analog have put together a late-night afterparty. Northern Electronics mainstay Varg headlines that one and Not Waving will also make his LA debut at a TBA warehouse space. Not Waving, the project of former Walls' man Alessio Natalizia, released the Animals full-length on Diagonal earlier this year. He's one a few affiliates of Powell's label scattered across the Berserktown events. Dva Damas, Silent Servant and Remy Marc round out the official afterparty bill. The next night sees another Berserktown adjacent event under the Threshold banner. That event series is organized by The Church Off York, the promoter behind Berserktown, and Ascetic House, the experimental Arizona collective and tape label. For its seventh show and three-year anniversary, Threshold will host Dedekind Cut, the Hospital Productions-affiliated project of Lee Bannon. Chino Amobi, who works with NON Records, a label described as "a collective of African artists, and of the diaspora, using sound as their primary media," will also perform, as will Posh Isolation co-founder Loke Rahbek and Jock Club. Check out Derek Jarman's 1982 short Pirate Tape, featuring a score from Psychic TV.
