  • Harold Budd will play a show at the Harrison House in Joshua Tree, California on October 29th. The 80-year old Budd has been composing since 1962. Over that period, he was in league with the minimalists, taught at CalArts and collaborated with Brian Eno, Cocteau Twins and Jah Wobble. Out in Joshua Tree, he'll perform with the visual artist Jane Maru, with whom he worked on two albums over the past few years. For those records, The Guardian says "he'd enter the studio with no preparation—no notes or even ideas—and record whatever he came up with that day." He'll appear on the outdoor stage at the Harrison House accompanied by Maru and Bradford Ellis. The house, built by the late composer Lou Harrison, is made out of straw bales and sits on the border of Joshua Tree National Park. Watch the video for "Jane 1."
