- The new venture will showcase music from South American artists.
A new label called Sur, which aims to showcase South American artists, will launch with a split 12-inch due out on October 31st.
The outlet is a collaboration between Barcelona-based Uruguayan Jorge Gamarra and Berlin-based Argentinian Gulp. Gamarra supplies two of the new EP's three tracks with A-side cuts "Apolo" and "#33572," while Omar, an up-and-coming Uruguayan DJ and producer affiliated with Berlin's Club der Visionaere, offers up the side-long "Vlegadno" for the B-side.
Sur is the latest in a growing list of labels and producers with ties to Uruguay, many rooted in the kind of spacey sounds you'd find in the sets of DJs like Binh, Onur Özer and Nicolas Lutz.
