Mala headlines the first event at the club, owned by dubstep promoter Sub.mission.
Longtime local dubstep and bass music promoter Nicole Cacciavillano and her Sub.mission brand purchased the East 13th Avenue space, which was previously known as the jam band venue Quixote's True Blue. Billed as "Denver's new home for underground music," it'll feature two rooms with custom-built sound from Fort Collins audio company Bass Couch and, according to a Facebook post, will play host to a "wide range of genres."
The Black Box's grand opening will take place on Saturday, November 19th. One room will feature sets from three UK jocks—Deep Medi Musik boss Mala, along with Kahn and Neek, who are touring together ahead of this month's release of their Fabriclive mix—along with Sub.mission residents. Meanwhile, Denver drum & bass crew Recon DNB will take over The Lounge with help from Paris-based DJ Moresounds.
More events are being steadily added to The Black Box's calendar, including the Electronic Tuesdays series, which kicks off on the 22nd with a headlining set from Croydon's LOST, and a 'Friendsgiving' on Thanksgiving night.
