  • Blackest Ever Black has started up a new tape series called Id Mud. Back in August, the label's newsletter contained the following announcement on Krokodilo Tapes, the sub-label that released cassette mixes from the likes of Helena Hauff and Brian Not Brian: "Krokodilo Tapes is dead. There will be no further releases under that banner. But those of you fond of our cassette offerings, fear not: we'll be stepping up the volume of CS releases and mixtapes on the main Blackest imprint, and there is a new sub-series in the pipeline." Id Mud makes good on that. The first entry comes from Golden Pudel regulars and V I S label heads Nina and Good News (real name Tobias Düffner). Untitled (OHM 12.8.16) was recorded at Blackest Ever Black's Berlin leaving party at OHM, the small club beside Tresor. It'll come as a double-cassette set in an edition of 75. The label says "Nina's signature style—blown-out, post-techno industrial and deeply suspenseful, darkside concrète," leads into Düffner's "downtempo gangsta tekno and blunted breakbeats." (Nina also released a 2014 cassette on Krokodilo.) The second tape, also available now, comes from Silvia Kastel, a member of the post-punk band Ninni Morgia Control Unit. BEB says her mix, called Bibula Harena, references a "very specific lineage/tradition of deep studio research and isolationism… from '70s GRM and Moog… [to] thug-rap of today, via Drexciyan electro, ice-cold digital reggae and jungle." The press release notes Kastel also has solo material on the way via Blackest Ever Black.
